Type A moms will love this interactive journal. Organized chronologically, the sleek paperback takes moms from conception to pregnancy to childbirth to the first few weeks of parenthood. Each stage features time-sensitive information, interview questions (what to ask your OB, midwife, pediatrician, nanny, daycare, etc), information logs (prenatal check-ups, baby gifts, childbirth class notes, feeding & diapering) and useful tips. The resources section features an extremely useful five-page list of books & websites for pregnancy, products, maternity clothing, baby clothing, breastfeeding and more.
Overall, 40 Weeks + is extremely detailed (potentially overwhelmingly so) and very thorough – no pregnancy stone is left unturned. Lists and facts will be of varying use to different moms – some will love suggestions for saving time around the house (get your car checked, stock up on toilet paper), some will ignore them. We certainly didn’t even think about documenting our contractions (page 109), but imagine there are some moms out there itching to record every last detail. If you’re one of them – this is your book. One important note – this is a planner, not a journal. 40 Weeks + boasts over 100 pages of questions to ask, things to buy and items to consider, but minimal space to document your emotions, post pictures, etc.
