Wow is pretty much all we can say about Maurice Sendak’s most famous book (1964 Caldecott Medal Winner). This is a fabulous fantasy story about a wild boy named Max who is sent to bed without supper. During his punishment, Max slips into a fantasy world of “Wild Things.” He becomes King of all the Wild Things and has a wondrous time. Soon though, he realizes he wants to return to his comfortable world. Just as he begins to become homesick, he smells something familiar. He drifts back to his bedroom where he sees a tray of food that is still warm. A great story that allows toddler imaginations to run wild.
